Ed. System works to support Murrindindi

MurrindindiThe first meeting for 2005 of the Murrindindi Community Cabinet project group occured today in the chambers of the Murrindindi Shire Council in Alexandra. Mr. Phil Clarke,General Manager of the Strategic Directions Division of the Office of Training and Tertiary Education [OTTE] chaired the meeting.

In attendance at the meeting was Cr. Mike Dalmau, Sandy Forbes and Mr. Ross Tinkler [ACFE], Maria Langwell [OTTE] Madeleine Lettieri [Swinburne] , Mr Peter Ryan [Goulburn Ovens Tafe ] , Mr George MacLean [DE&T Post Compulsory Division], Mr. Bruce Skewes , Deputy Principal Yea High School and Mr John Stafford and Mr. Bill Coppinger representing the CRLLEN.

The meeting resolved to complete an industry priority demand survey by May 30th, in consultation with local government and industry representatives. This will involve identifying the specific needs of local industries/enterprises and how education and training providers can develop a coordinated and strategic repsonse.

A review of specific transport issues impacting on movements of students in and around the district was also high on the agenda and a detailed review of short and longer term transport needs will also be devloped by May 30th.

This meeting is in direct response to discussions that originated from the State Community Cabinet Meeting in Murrindindi on Monday the 27th of September.
