Recreation and Youth Development Position

Co-ordinator Recreation and Youth Development

Band 7, Full Time, 38 hours a week

The division of the position into Co-ordinator Recreation (24 hours) and

Youth Development Officer (14 hours) may be considered

Murrindindi Shire Council is seeking to employ an experienced and suitably qualified person to co-ordinate and further develop Council’s role in the support and planning of recreation and youth services throughout the shire.

This is a key management position and will have responsibility for the implementation of Council’s Youth Strategy and Recreation Strategy, management of councils swimming pools, lead and manage a small team and will work with community groups and service providers to achieve positive outcomes.

It is expected that applicants will have an understanding of the core principles that underpin capacity building and community development and have the ability to establish and maintain co-operative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Applicants must have tertiary qualifications in Recreation, Community Development or related discipline, will have proven experience in leadership and highly developed oral and written communication skills.

The position is full time and based at the Alexandra offices of Council.
