Other Government Broadband Programmes

Sun, Oct 16, 2005; by Bill Coppinger. Broadband allows users fast, 'always-on' online access to digital content, applications and a range of services, some or all of which can occur simultaneously. Broadband access will allow users to take full advantage of new communication tools and next generation applications.

Broadband development is a key priority for the Australian Government. An extensive review of broadband policy has been undertaken over the last two years.

The Australian Government has also worked cooperatively with all state and territory governments to develop the National Broadband Strategy.

This Strategy addresses the recommendation of the Broadband Advisory Group that the Australian Government adopt a coordinated approach to broadband in a national strategy.
