The Koorie Pathways Program was launched in 2007 and is an initiative of the four Hume region LLEN's and the Hume Region Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. (DEECD).

The program is targeted at Koorie students in years 9 to 12 and is designed to improve educational and employment outcomes for Koorie students through increased student engagement.

The goals of the Koorie Pathways program are:

The KPP is implemented over one school year in four stages to align with school Terms from 1-4:

Stage 1 Student Surveys - Term 1
In-school one to one student interviews and survey completion to establish connectedness to school and pathways direction, work in partnership with Koorie educators and Careers Teachers to establish core relationship and ongoing liaison. Engagement is encouraged to extend to Koorie student families and to link and inform current IEPs and MIPs.

Stage 2 Celebration Day - Term 2
The Central Ranges LLEN and NE TRACKS LLEN have formed a partnership with DEECD, DPCD, GO TAFE and local Indigenous leaders to deliver local celebration days for students across both LLEN areas (Hume Region). These events provide an opportunity to witness and engage in a variety of Indigenous cultural activities as well as participate in various workshops. These workshops have included artefacts with Melbourne Museum, Indigenous sporting games with the Academy of Sports, Health and Education (ASHE), careers and try a trade activities with GO TAFE. In 2010 the Central Ranges LLEN hosted it's Celebration Day at Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre. In 2011, NE TRACKS LLEN hosted a celebration day in Mansfield. Stage 3 Koorie Worlds of Work Program - Term 3
Expressions of interest will be invited from students to fill the 25 places on the program. The annual program is coordinated and delivered by the Foundation for Young Australians based in Melbourne. The WOW program is an intensive 5 day program stylised to cater for Koorie young people's needs in understanding and learning skills required to succeed in the global worlds of work.

As an example, Museum Victoria currently offers a number of work experience placements to students who complete the WOW program. Stage 4 of the program aims to expand students understanding of the myriad of career options available to them.
