Macedon Ranges businesses and secondary schools came together to learn about the value and benefits of employing an apprentice at an information session held at the Kyneton Town Hall on 22 July 2014.
The session was presented in partnership with the Victorian Employer’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI) with presenters from VECCI, Gisborne Secondary College and Sureway Employment & Training Services.
Organisers were pleased to see 11 individual businesses attend which was a good start to what will be a long running program of trying to raise the awareness of the benefits of
apprenticeships and traineeships.
Attendees received a comprehensive understanding including; an overview of apprenticeships from commencement to completion including incentives available to businesses, school based apprenticeships and traineeships, the role of schools in pathways to employment and an overview on how employers can access assistance for recruitment and ongoing management.
Many attendees were already considering taking on an apprentice so the information session provided them an opportunity to ask specific questions that helped with their decision.
