On Track is a Victorian Government initiative designed to ensure that Year 10 to 12 government and non government school students are on a pathway to further education, training or employment after leaving school.

On Track data for students completing year 12 in 2002 shows :
- 11.3% of students completing Yr 12 were employed full time compared to a state average of 9.9%
- 8.7% of students were in a Traineeship or apprenticeship compared to a state average of 6.0%
- 32.4% enter university compared to a state average of 40.9%
- 17.4% enter a Certificate 4 level or above course compared to the State's 19.9%
- 4.7% of students completing Year 12 were unemployed compared to 5.6% in Victoria.
These graphs suggest that there are positive, yet limited outcomes for students in the Macedon, Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires compared to the rest of the state.
It is interesting to note that employment outcomes seem positive with some 29.8% of students in the CRLLEN area gaining a full or part-time position, this is in comparison to an average of 22% for the state.
A note of caution should be considered with these employment figures because we understand that *any* employment at the time of interview is considered 'employed'.
Our own LLEN research also suggests there is also a considerable number of students not taking positions offered because of travel and other related costs.
These figures present a particular challenge for the smaller and and geographically isolated communities across our three shires.
Early School Leavers 2003
These figures represent the destinations of students prior who left school during 2002.

- 27.6% of students leaving early were employed compared to a state average of 26%
- 32.4% of students were in a Traineeship or apprenticeship compared to a state average of 34%
- none enter university compared to a state average of 0.1%
- 22.9% enter a VET Course equal to the State's 22.9%
- 18.1% of students leaving early were unemployed compared to 17.1% in Victoria.
