On Track is a Victorian Government initiative designed to ensure that Year 10 to 12 government and non government school students are on a pathway to further education, training or employment after leaving school.
On Track data for students completing year 12 in 2004 across the Macedon, Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires shows :
LLEN-Wide Destinations 2005

- 11.3% of students completing Yr 12 were employed full time compared to a state average of 8.0%
- 13.4% of students were in a Traineeship or apprenticeship compared to a state average of 10.1%
- 29.8% enter uninversity compared to a state average of 43.1% [This is a 5% drop from the previous year.]
- 21.4% enter a Certificate 4 level or above course compared to the State's 18.1%
- 5.3% of students completing Year 12 were unemployed compared to 4.4% in Victoria. This is 0.6% drop from 2004 data, doubling the 0.3% drop in statewide average.
This data suggest that there are some excellent outcomes for some students yet there is also evidence of loosing some ground in some categories, such as the number of students entering university courses, while other figures show very positive gains on the previous year with a drop of 0.6% of students unemployed.
Statewide Destinations 2005

The figures also show very strong take-up of Traineeship,Apprenticeship and Certificate IV and above pathways, compared to State averages.
There still a considerable gap between many of the outcomes for students in the Macedon, Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires and this data provides an excellent starting point for education and community planners.
Early School Leavers 2003
On Track data for students leaving school early in 2004 shows :
- 24.1% of students leaving early were employed compared to a state average of 27.1% This is a reducation from last years figures.
- Over 40% of early leavers were in a Traineeship or apprenticeship compared to a state average of 37.8. Of note that 36.6% of all early leavers in the CRLLEN enter an appreanticeship compared to 29.8% statewide.
- 21.4% enter a VET Course which is alsmost DOUBLE the 2004 figures of 12.3% compared to the State's 19.8%
- 11.6% of students leaving early were unemployed compared to 15.4% in Victoria. It should also be noted that this is a drop of almost 9% from the previous Year.
