Update January 2007

This website was originally set up for young people in the Mitchell Shire. It has now been expanded to include young people from right across the Macedon, Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires. Mitchell Youth Affairs

You are the Voices of the Future, so this is a place where you can be heard ! You can have your ideas, thoughts and concerns heard by decision-makers in government.

We want to let your voices be heard by as many people as possible. That's why PODCASTING is the plan!

Background:

Approximately one hundred young people from across the Mitchell Shire gathered on Wednesday the 7th of September 2005 at the Seymour Campus of the Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE to share their points of view about living, learning and working in Mitchell Shire.

A series of activities and workshops included: Collage, Beat Box, Graffiti, Hip Hop and and other Music. These workshops encouraged and allowed young people, yes, that's YOU, to express themselves through their choice of medium, and share their views on what it is like to be a young person in our region.

Nearly all of the schools in the district committed to sending at least 15 students. We also had two classes of VCAL students from the TAFE attending and about 20 young people from programs from youth agencies working in the area.

We had over 100 young people there on the day.

The workshops were facilitated by students from Victoria Univeristy who were studying Youth work.

We recorded and podcasted your voices to the Shire, to Victoria and to the world with the help of the folks at the Apple iTunes Music store!

Apple Computer agreed to add a link to our podcasts of your opinions and music, on their iTunes PodCast Directory!

This is a great opportunity to have your voices heard.

We will continue to support this over the coming months and years!

If you know a local band who would also like to share their music and have it podcasted for free, please leave a message on our forums.
