Parents as Partners

 

The Central Ranges LLEN has included a new stakeholder group in Parents to assist in improving the education, training and employment outcomes for local young people, aged 10-19 years. The Central Ranges LLEN role is to:

  • Improve the capacity of parents and families to support the engagement and pathways options for students in Grade 6 & Years 7-10, with a focus on parents in identified risk areas.

    The Central Ranges LLEN is undertaking the following activities to engage with education and community organisations to increase the engagement and capacity of parents to support local young people in their education:

  • Parent Workshops
  • Survey conducted of Primary, Secondary Schools and Community Organisations on current and potential parent engagement programs across the Shires of Murrindindi, Mitchell and Macedon Ranges
  • Parent Engagement Committees in Hume and Macedon Ranges: As a result of the survey two Parental Engagement Committees have been formed in Hume (Mitchell & Murrindindi) and Macedon Ranges with Education and Community Stakeholder representatives. These committees will explore strategic partnerships with local networks and value add to current and innovative parental engagement activities to support the increase of young peoples engagement with education.
