The Careers in Manufacturing program

The Careers in Manufacturing (CiM) program promotes the extensive range of career options available to young people in the manufacturing and engineering sectors.

The Victoria-wide program targets Years 9 and 10 secondary students and offers:

  • opportunities talks with young people in the industry
  • tours of manufacturing and engineering sites.

The Central Ranges LLEN promotes program activity information to schools in the Mitchell, Murrindindi and the Macedon Ranges region.

Young industry ambassadors

CiM offers students opportunities for students to meet young industry ambassadors – young apprentices, trainees and graduates who talk about the career choices available in the manufacturing and engineering sectors. They visit schools to talk about their own career pathway. Some are able to host small groups of students at their own work site.

Industry tours

As part of the program secondary students can tour manufacturing and engineering sites of interest. These tours can be funded by the program, and could include a talk with a young industry ambassador (if available on site).
