Strategic Plan 2009-2011
ARTE NON VI
Invitation to contribute
Dear Members and Stakeholders of the Central Ranges LLEN,
With the confirmation of the renewal of the CRLLEN contract for a further three years, running from 2009-2011 and the imminent [August 28th] publication of our 2008-2011 Environmental Scan, we invited members and stakeholders throughout August and September to have your say on the strategic direction you wish to see post-compulsory [15-19 year olds] education and training take, across the Macedon, Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires in the next three years and beyond.
- Are there groups of young people in your community/town/shire missing out on opportunities or leaving school early?
- Are there groups of young people who are particularly disadvantaged?
- Do different types of learning opportunities need to be created in your area?
- Are there EXISTING local programmes operating that could or should be expanded? Tell us what is working for you!
- Are there gaps in the education and training offerings for young people in your community?
- Are there specific changes in your community that we need to plan for to support young people?
- Are there better links we can build with local businesses, local government or community groups to better assist young people?
- Are there job opportunities in your area but no-one to fill them?
These are just some of the questions we invited you to consider.
The surevy is now CLOSED
We encouraged responses from individuals, businesses, organisations and even whole-of-community responses. We thank all of those who contributed.
We will collate and distribute a draft document for final approval y the board in Early November.
To focus your thinking, it is important to remember that between 2009 and 2011, the Central Ranges LLEN will receive DEECD funding to:
Improve education, training and employment outcomes in our region for young people 15 to 19 years old, with a particular focus on those young people who are at risk of disengaging, or who have already disengaged from education and training and are not in meaningful employment. [Source: DEECD] |
It is important to remember that vibrant, engaged and future-focused young people are the corner-stone of any healthy and functioning community.
All communities, no matter how large or small have a responsibility to nurture and assist in the transition from youth to adulthood, from school to further education and employment. Historically, this transition has never been more competitive, more uncertain, and for some, never more threatening.
At the heart of the work of the LLEN is ensuring that we build the partnerships, links and pathways at a local level to support solid and lasting transitions from school to work and further study.
Contributions could have been made to our planning in one of four ways:
- Completing the short online survey [Now Closed],
- Leave a response by clicking on the " Comment on or reply to this post " link at the bottom of this page
- Meet with your Macedon, Mitchell or Murrindindi Local Government Area Sub Committee
- Contact any board member or the Chief Executive Officer of the LLEN.
To assist [but hopefully not limit] your thinking, we have provided a copy of the previous/current Strategic Plan.
We will be sure to include everything in our review to ensure we have the broadest view possible.
Thank you
Andrew Hocking
Chairperson - Central Ranges LLEN
