Welcome to the Central Ranges VET in Schools Online Handbook.
Thanks to the cooperation of all the secondary schools in the region, this handbook is available for any student, parent, employer or community member wanting to know more about Vocational Education and Training in schools across the Macedon, Mitchell and Murrindindi Shire area.
This online handbook helps you search the Vocational Education and Training [VET] courses offered by a particular school, lets you search for a course being offered in a particular Town or Shire, or, will even show you every course offered by all schools in the Macedon, Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires! It provides basic information about the courses and costs, but most importantly [if you are a student], gives you contact details so you contact any school or course provider to learn more about what is on offer.

Hint: Start by just choosing JUST ONE option from the list [i.e Course or school or town]
- Vocational Education and Training in the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning [VCAL] or the Victorian Certificate of Education [VCE] combines studies with vocational education and training as well as ‘hands on’ practice in industry.
- There are also VET programs that include Pre-apprenticeship and hybrid certificate industry courses which may be eligible for block credit towards VCE or credit towards VCAL.
- Australian School-Based Apprenticeships (SBA) include part-time Traineeships and Apprenticeships for secondary school students 15 years of age or over, and who are permanent residents of Australia.
- A SBA involves doing the VCAL or VCE while employed in an industry, and being trained on-the-job and attending formal off-the-job training.
