Located within an hour drive of Melbourne's Central Business District to the south and Bendigo to the north, the Macedon Ranges Shire is renowned for its semi-rural lifestyle, its pristine landscapes and forests, unique natural features such as Hanging Rock, and the character and heritage of local townships. These features have attracted residents and visitors since the early 1900s and continue to do so today.
The Kyneton 'YET' committee is currently the auspiced sub-committee of the Central Ranges Local Learning and Employment for the Macedon Shire.

The Macedon Ranges Shire is constantly growing. An estimated 38,384 people were living in the Shire at 30 June 2002 - more than double the number of people living here 25 years ago. Recent estimates predict that the population of the Shire will grow to approximately 50,000 by the year 2021. The most significant recent growth has occurred in the southern part of the Shire, close to urban Melbourne.

2006 Update
The Board of Directors completed the collaborative arrangement between Macedon Ranges Shire Council and the Central Ranges Local Learning and Employment Network to support a project officer within the Macedon Ranges Shire. This partnership concluded on Dec 31st 2005.
The position was a full time (38 hours per week) appointment through combining two part-time positions:
- The MATCH II Project Worker (22 hours per week) funded by Office For Youth
- LLEN PROJECT WORKER (16 hours per week) funded by Central Ranges Local Learning and Employment Network (CRLLEN).
In the second half of 2005, the position became a partime position funded by the LLEN and supported by the Macedon Shire through the provision of office space
The position proved to be a very successful partnership, in no small part to the commitment and dedication shown by Ms. Kylie Ward, who held the position throughout the life of the project, spanning two years. We thank Kylie for her dedication and commitment to the districts young people.
