EVENT: Seymour Careers and Jobs Expo
Seymour Careers & Jobs Expo Returns to Connect Students with Local Opportunities
After a successful return to the local careers expo scene, Central Ranges LLEN is excited to announce that the Seymour Careers & Jobs Expo is just days away! This highly anticipated event will take place on Tuesday 29 April 2025, from 9 am to 3 pm at Kings Park in Seymour.
A School-Focused Career Exploration Event
This year's expo is specifically designed for school students, with over 600 registered attendees from schools throughout the region. The event represents the first local career and jobs expo held for school students since 2019, fulfilling an important need identified by local schools.
"Our schools in Seymour approached us in December last year and wanted a local event that showcased both career pathways and local job opportunities for students," says Nicky Leitch, CEO at Central Ranges LLEN. "We reached out to local businesses and looked for financial support to be able to progress the event."
Interactive Learning Experience
What makes this expo special is its focus on hands-on learning. Students will have the opportunity to engage with more than 40 exhibitors representing diverse industries and career paths. Each exhibitor has been asked to provide interactive sessions that offer practical experiences for students.
"We want them to be able to touch, feel and participate in the sessions, while also finding out about the career pathway into that industry sector." explains Ms Leitch.
Impressive Range of Exhibitors
The expo will feature an impressive lineup of exhibitors, including:
Australian Defence Force Careers
Ambulance Victoria
Brick and Block Careers
Coles Seymour
Department of Education - Early Childhood Education
GOTAFE Skills & Jobs Centre
Lion Club Seymour
McDonald's Seymour
Mitchell Shire Council
Nestle
Seymour Health
Victoria Police
Wine by Sam
And many more local employers and training providers!
Community Support Makes It Possible
This event has been made possible through partnerships and community support. "The support from Workforce Australia Local Jobs Goulburn Murray team and their Local Initiative Fund has been instrumental in making this event possible," says Ms. Leitch.
Additional thanks go to CVGT for their Community Grant, as well as in-kind sponsors including Seymour Coaches, Coles-Seymour, and Nestle.
"We are thrilled to partner with Central Ranges LLEN and bring the Seymour Careers and Jobs Expo to the Seymour school community. This event is an incredible opportunity for local employers to connect with their future workforce and promote employment pathways available close to home," said Faye D'Helin, Employment Facilitator, Workforce Australia Local Jobs Program.
Central Ranges LLEN: Supporting Youth Transitions
This expo is just one example of the important work Central Ranges LLEN does in supporting education and career transitions for young people in the Mitchell, Murrindindi and Macedon Ranges shires. In 2024, the organisation provided 174 local Work Experience and Structured Workplace Learning placements and ran 23 events supporting career development.
Despite having only five part-time staff members, Central Ranges LLEN continues to deliver significant results for local schools and students throughout the region.
"We are certainly pleased to have been able to accommodate our school's wishes in regards to the expo and we look forward to a huge and fun day of interactive sessions on Tuesday," says Ms. Leitch.
